I just found a very similar Norell floral coat in LIFE Magazine(June 2, 1967)page 88. It sold for $3,150.00. All of LIFE magazine has been scanned on google books, so check it out!

Wow, with a coat like this, what does one wear in the inside?

Christina, good tip on the scanned Life magazine. It looks very similar.

Good question Elle! Probably something very sedate so as not to distract from the coat itself! When coats like this (big, showstopping) are featured in fashion editorials, you rarely see what is worn underneath. The Life article that Christina found states that a similar coat was worn over a "silk dress," but there's no image of the dress itself.

Christina, thanks for that suggestion! I don't think of Life magazine as being a particularly fruitful source of fashion info, but I'm going to start checking it regularly.

Wow!! What an entrance maker.
