I was unaware there was any fabric milled in the US at this time. How do you define American fabric in that case?

FIDM Museum

Hi Laura - fabric has been produced in the United States since the 18th century. Fabric production didn't become a full-scale American industry until after the Revolutionary War and the Industrial Revolution (19th century). By the 20th century, the American textile industry was pretty robust!
